Buffalo, NY: R-E-A-CH Buffalo, a project of CAI Global, in partnership with the Community Health Center of Buffalo (CHCB) and the Buffalo Center for Healthy Equity (BCHE) will be hosting a pop-up flu and COVID vaccination clinic for members of the community at Walden Galleria next month. The vaccines will be administered on the Community Health Center of Buffalo’s mobile medical unit which will be parked outside of Walden Galleria’s main mall entrance near Forever 21 every Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. during the month of March.
Led by a team of community health workers and funded by the CDC, the red-shirt “Community Vaccines Champions” (CVCs) will be onsite each Saturday in March to link the community to vaccines and offer health education to shoppers and customers at Walden Galleria. Community Vaccine Champions, identified by their red “CVC” shirts, will be available to offer information, support, and an escort for shoppers to receive vaccinations at the mobile unit.
“As we look to welcome spring, it’s important we remember that March is still considered flu season, with infection rates comparable to December and January data,” said Shahirah (SJ) Gillespie, a CDC Trainer, Manager of Reach Buffalo CVC Team. “The Community Vaccine Champions were eager to partner with organizations committed to equitable healthcare access – and considered Walden Galleria Mall as an effective and accessible outreach location to meet the needs of the community!”
All ages are eligible to receive flu and COVID vaccinations. Valid forms of identification and insurance are required. The pop-up vaccination clinic will be onsite at Walden Galleria, taking place inside CHCB’s mobile medical unit, on Saturday March 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. parked outside of the main mall entrance near Forever 21.
