— Community blood donation event to be held on Tuesday, July 11th at WNY’s largest shopping center —
Buffalo, NY: In partnership with Walden Galleria and Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce, ConnectLife will be hosting a community blood drive next month on Tuesday, July 11th from 2:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Walden Galleria. The ConnectLife Bus will be parked just outside of Five Guys near the main mall entrance near Forever 21 where staff will be on site to coordinate with volunteer blood donors. In addition, all ConnectLife blood donors will receive a coupon for a FREE pint of Perry’s Ice Cream.
ConnectLife is Western New York’s only community blood bank which means every drop of blood donated remains local, here in WNY. The organization supplies about 70% of the local blood supply, supporting area hospitals such as ECMC, Oishei Children’s Hospital, Buffalo General Hospital, Millard Filmore Suburban Hospital, Eastern Niagara Hospital and Olean General Hospital.
The community blood bank stresses the importance and need for volunteer blood donors stating that 1 in 7 people entering local hospitals need blood products for situations such as traumas, chronic illnesses, clotting disorders, and mothers delivering newborn babies. There is no substitute for life-saving blood products and the only way to insure there is a steady supply on local hospital shelves is through volunteer donations.
“During the summer months, ConnectLife sees a drop in blood donations, a trend that is mirrored across the country,” said Melanie Brem, Partner Relations Associate at ConnectLife. “While there are less donors coming in, our hospitals here in WNY continue to need a steady, stable blood supply for their daily needs, in addition to the increase in accidents and traumas that the warmer weather brings. Because of this, blood donors that roll up their sleeves in the summer months are especially important lifesavers!”
Appointments for the blood drive are available now. Volunteers can simply walk up to the bus or book their timeslot by calling 716-529-4300 or online by visiting www.connectlifegiveblood.org.

About ConnectLife
ConnectLife helps people help others. As Western New York’s only community blood center and federally designated organ, eye, and tissue procurement agency, ConnectLife saves and enhances lives through the support and compassion of donors who graciously choose to give the gift of life. All of the blood that ConnectLife collects stays local, helping nearly every hospital in Western New York’s eight counties maintain safe inventory levels while saving them millions of dollars in out-of-state sourcing costs. And for every pint of blood donated, we save the lives of three of our neighbors. At its core, ConnectLife was created to serve—making the blood donation process as personal and painless as possible; helping organ, eye, and tissue donor families honor the wishes of their loved ones during an emotional time; working with schools to equip the next generation of donors with the knowledge they need to make lifesaving decisions; and supporting Western New Yorkers’ inherent desire to do good.
