Walden Galleria to Host Security Lockdown Drill
Thursday, May 10th at 10:15 AM
Buffalo, NY: To enhance the safety and security of the region’s largest shopping center, Walden Galleria will be hosting the second lockdown drill of the year on Thursday, May 10th at 10:15 AM. This drill is a precautionary measure conducted by Walden Galleria Security and the Cheektowaga Police Department in order to equip employees with proper training in the case of an emergency. Lockdown drills are administered quarterly to establish a basis for procedure if a situation should present itself.
“Walden Galleria and Cheektowaga Police work continuously to ensure that all groups and individuals involved are properly trained and prepared if a crisis should arise,” explains Alex Corbelli, Marketing Director for Walden Galleria. “By hosting quarterly drills, it is highly important that all employees and staff members are familiar with these procedures.”
The drill is anticipated to last approximately 15 minutes and will be initiated during open mall hours in order to emulate a realistic situation for employees, security, and police. Walden Galleria’s security team works closely with the Cheektowaga Police Department on a number of measures to ensure safety and protection for all mall employees and patrons.
In 2015, Walden Galleria Security and Cheektowaga Police Department established a method to indicate threat levels at each individual store within the shopping center. This method is continuously utilized to allow police to assign degrees of urgency and respond faster.
